Thanks for reaching out to my blog. Through this article, I’m sharing my personal experience with “VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud 2022 (VCP-VMC 2022),” which I recently passed at the beginning of this year 2023.
What influenced me to attempt this exam?
Well, while scrolling through the VMware community page in December 2022, I got to know about the notification from VMware about this newly launched exam which is an alternative path within the VMware Cloud Automation and Management certification track. When I referred to the exam blueprint to know the context of the exam, I realized that most of the modules were from Hybrid Cloud Solutions, Modern Applications, and Cloud Migrations. This encouraged me to take the exam because I am currently working on the same technologies, and attending the recommended training and passing the exam could provide me with more clarity on the fundamentals of topics such as VMC on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, Google Cloud VMware Engine, VMware HCX, Migrations, VMC on AWS Outpost, VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware Cloud on Dell EMC, VxRail, VMware Tanzu Kubernetes, and so on.
What did the exam and training cost me?
I felt lucky to get the free voucher for training and exam from VMware which generally cost $2400 and $250 respectively. As a complimentary offer, VMware had initially provided free exam vouchers for limited capacity which was out of limit within less than a week due to overwhelming demand. However, the training, which costs $2400, is still available at no cost until further notice, which you can leverage as a New Year’s gift. 🙂
Where did I get the learning materials?
As there are not much information available over the internet for the exam preparation, so the only thing that we could get was training for “Designing, Configuring, and Managing the VMware Cloud,” which demonstrates the minor and major concepts related to the topics mentioned in exam blueprint. This training is also quite important from exam perspective as most of the questions are covered in the sections that are part of this training module. There are also approx. 100 quiz questions covered at end of each of the sections, and you should not miss this as 20–30% of the questions will arise from there only, though not in the same format.
How long did it take me to prepare?
I registered on December 16, 2022, with the intention of attempting during the Christmas freeze. But the moment I indulged in getting deep into the topics, I found more interest, so I thought to extend the exam schedule. Finally, after multiple reschedules, I attempted it on January 5, 2023, and got 362 out of 500. Yeah! This also gave me the advantage of earning the 2023 badge rather than the 2022 badge.
